Accordingly, in the
direction of developing functional areas in the region, the Research
Orientation Plan proposes and forms a number of high-tech zones in Nghe An,
Thua Thien Hue, Binh Thuan and some areas with potential when meeting the
prescribed conditions.
The Government also
encourages the development of agricultural and forestry zones applying high
technology in areas with potential and suitable conditions; especially focusing
on putting into operation a high-tech forestry park in Nghe An.
In the direction of developing forestry
infrastructure, the Regional Plan also determines the construction of a
high-tech forestry park in the region in Nghe An.
To concretize the above
direction, in the expected list of important programs and projects of the
region in the 2021 – 2030 period, with a vision to
2050, the Government has identified priorities for investment in high-tech
forestry zones in Nghe An province in the period from now to 2030.
Previously, on March 31,
2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 509/QD-TTg on the establishment of
high-tech application forestry zones in the North Central region in Nghi Lam,
Nghi Van, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Hop, Nghi Xa communes (Nghi Loc district) and Dai Son
commune (Do Luong district) with an area of 618 hectares.
This is the country's
first high-tech application forestry park, including 3 main functional sub-zones
forming a continuous chain from forestry tree seed production; wood and non-wood
forest product processing; training high-quality labor resources; to the trading floor
combined with an exhibition to introduce raw wood and products processed from
wood and non-wood forest products.
The Forestry Park's application of high technology is an opportunity
for Nghe An to effectively exploit forest potential, while attracting enterprises
to "invest capital" in developing the forestry industry along the
value chain from seed production, developing the wood industry and wood
products, to promoting and introducing products when investment projects here
enjoy preferential policies.
Nghe An currently has the largest area of
forests and forestry land in the country with about 1.008 million hectares of
forested land, including 173.9 thousand hectares that have become forests and
45.84 thousand hectares that have not yet been planted into forests; 788.99
thousand hectares of natural forest; Coverage by 2021 reached 58.41%, being
one of the provinces with the best and largest forest coverage in the
country; accounting for less than half of the forest area in the 14 provinces
of the North Central region and the Central Coast combined (about 2.4 million
hectares). Each year Nghe An exploits about 1.8 million m3 of
wood.
