Nghe An province delegation works with the Embassy of Vietnam in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Viet Nam Business Association in the UK
On
the afternoon of May 27 (local time), within the framework of a working trip to
Europe, a delegation from Nghe An province led by Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu -
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the
Provincial People's Council, visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in
the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Receiving
and working with the delegation was comrade Do Minh Hung - Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the United Kingdom.

The
delegation included comrades: Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party
Standing Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee, Chairman of Vinh
City People's Council; Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Executive
Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Member
of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial
Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; together with
leaders of the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and Provincial
People's Council; Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture and
Environment, Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism.

On
behalf of the delegation, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu expressed his gratitude for
the thoughtful reception from the Embassy and emphasized: This working trip is
a key foreign affairs activity in 2025, aiming to strengthen cooperation
between Nghe An and partners in the UK as well as Europe. This is also a step
to continue the results achieved from the visit and work in the UK of the
Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee in 2024.
At the
meeting, the delegation informed the ambassador about the outstanding results
of the province's socio-economic development, strategic orientations in the
coming time and potential cooperation with the UK.
In 2024, the
province's GRDP growth rate will reach 9.01%, ranking 13th nationwide;
in the first quarter of 2025 alone, it is estimated to reach a growth rate of
8%. Notably, Nghe An has been continuously in the top 10 provinces and cities
attracting the most FDI capital in the country for 3 consecutive years - a
clear demonstration of an increasingly attractive investment environment. In 2024, export turnover to
the UK will reach 12.5 million USD, with key products being textiles, footwear,
steel, processed fruits and fruit juice. In the first quarter of 2025, this
figure reached 5.3 million USD. Meanwhile, imports from the UK reached 271
thousand USD, mainly machinery, raw materials and chemicals for production.
The
provincial leaders also expressed their hope that the embassy would continue to
act as a bridge to promote cooperation between Nghe An and British localities
and businesses – especially in the areas that the province is prioritizing to
attract investment such as: high-tech agriculture, supporting industry,
mechanical engineering, agricultural processing, education, tourism, etc.
Ambassador
Do Minh Hung acknowledged Nghe An's efforts in promoting foreign affairs and
international investment, especially in the European market, and affirmed that
the Embassy will actively accompany and support in connecting and expanding
cooperative relations between Nghe An and partners in the UK, in order to bring
about practical results in the coming time.
Also on the
afternoon of May 27, leaders of
departments and branches of Nghe An province, chaired by Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc -
Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with the Viet Nam Business Association in
the UK. Also attending the meeting
were comrades: Hoang Quoc Viet - Director of the Department of Agriculture and
Environment; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture - Sports
and Tourism; staff of the Provincial People's Committee Office. On the side of
the Viet Nam Business Association in the UK, there was Ms. Nguyen Li Le - Vice
President of the Viet Nam Business Association in the UK and members of the
Association.
Speaking at
the meeting, comrade Tran Khanh Thuc said that Nghe An province currently has 2
FDI projects from the UK, with a total registered capital of 4.04 million USD.
Although two-way cooperation is still modest, the potential between the two
sides is huge. “We hope
that the Viet Nam-UK Business Association will be a strategic bridge to help
promote substantive cooperation between the British and Nghe An business
communities. The
province is ready to accompany and provide maximum support in terms of
procedures, infrastructure and policies so that investors can feel secure doing
long-term business in the locality," emphasized Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc -
Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ms.
Nguyen Li Le - Vice President of the Viet Nam Business Association in the UK
expressed her pleasure to welcome the delegation from Nghe An province, and at
the same time, highly appreciated the proactive efforts of the provincial
leaders to seek international cooperation opportunities. “We are very impressed
with the dynamic and professional approach of the delegation. With the
available potential of Nghe An, I believe that this will be an attractive
investment destination for British businesses,” the Association representative
shared. Ms. Nguyen Li Le pledged to actively introduce and connect member
businesses and partners in the UK to survey and invest in Nghe An in the coming
time, especially in the fields of high technology, renewable energy,
agricultural processing and sustainable tourism.
The meeting
ended in a friendly and open atmosphere, bringing many positive signals for the
cooperative relationship between Nghe An and British partners. With strong support from local
authorities and determination from the business communities of both sides, it
is expected to open a new chapter in investment cooperation between Nghe An and
the UK.
