In the warm and joyful atmosphere of the early days of the new year, on the afternoon of February 7th, in Vinh City, Nghe An Province organized Meeting with Overseas Vietnamese in Nghe An in the Year of the Snake 2025.

Attending the program were the following officials: Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC); Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Front for the Fatherland Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Representatives; Dang Thi Thu Ha - Director of the Department of Economics, Science and Technology - State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of Provincial People's Council, Vice Chairman of the PPC; leaders of Departments, Committees, and Branches.

The meeting with Overseas Vietnamese in Nghe An in the Year of the Snake 2025 took place in a warm and emotional atmosphere, further strengthening the relationship between Nghe An province and the overseas Vietnamese. Encouraging and awakening the spirit of national pride, and encouraging the overseas Vietnamese to return to their roots, contributing to the development of their homeland and country. This is also an opportunity for the province to express its concern for the overseas Vietnamese, and a chance to listen to their thoughts, feelings, and aspirations regarding the construction and development of the socio-economic landscape of the province.

At the meeting, on behalf of the leadership of Nghe An province, Chairman of the PPC Le Hong Vinh extended sincere greetings, best wishes, and the happiest New Year wishes to the Overseas Vietnamese present today and to the children of the homeland of Nghe An who are living, working, and studying abroad.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always showed special concern for overseas Vietnamese. In his New Year letter to the compatriots in 1946, he stated: “The Fatherland and the Government also always remember and miss the overseas Vietnamese just as parents miss their absent children; that is the sentiment of humanity that is the affection of one family.” The Party and State of Viet Nam have always identified the overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation. Understanding the viewpoint and guidelines of the Party as well as the policies of the State, Nghe An province has always valued and appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to their homeland, and constantly wishes for the community to have a stable life, to develop further, to preserve the national cultural identity, and to actively integrate into the local community in the host country.

Reflecting on the Year of the Dragon 2024, despite the numerous difficulties and challenges both globally and domestically, with the unity and determination of the entire political system, the concerted effort of the people and the business community, Nghe An Province has affirmed its position with significant strides in various fields, leaving many remarkable marks, creating new momentum and a new spirit for the Year of the Snake 2025.

Reviewing the outstanding achievements that the province has attained in 2024, Chairman of the PPC, Le Hong Vinh, affirmed that, along with the solidarity, unity, effort, striving, and high determination of the Party Committee, the Government, and the people of Nghe An Province, it is the significant contribution of the intellect, material resources, and spirit of the Nghe An Overseas Vietnamese community.

The Chairman of the PPC stated: In recent years, the provincial leaders have had the opportunity to visit and work in several countries, meet with Overseas Vietnamese, and listen to their shares and sentiments. Although living far from the homeland, Nghe An Overseas Vietnamese always nurture and promote the spirit of patriotism, national pride, preserve cultural traditions, and maintain a connection to their roots, families, homeland, and country.

According to incomplete statistical data, Nghe An currently has approximately 80,000 people living, studying, and working in more than 110 countries and territories around the world. Notably, many associations and organizations of people from Nghe An have developed very strongly, playing an important role as a bridge in connecting and supporting the organization of investment, trade, and tourism promotion activities for the province. It is an important factor in people's diplomacy, actively preserving and promoting the values of national culture, building the image of Nghe An province abroad, contributing to the promotion of friendly cooperative relations between Nghe An province and foreign partners. This has been recognized and highly appreciated by local authorities as well as embassies in Viet Nam.

In addition, many overseas compatriots from Nghe An have learned and accumulated valuable knowledge and experience, which they have brought back to contribute to the development of their homeland. The expatriates have been and continue to support significant resources for cultural projects, rural development, as well as participating in many meaningful social and charitable activities. Especially, the large amount of remittances sent home each year has played an important role in promoting production and business, developing the socio-economic landscape, and improving the living standards of the people in the province. It can be affirmed that Nghe An overseas Vietnamese communities are the significant and indispensable resources for the socio-economic development of the province.

Join hands to build and develop our homeland, making the country more prosperous and happy.

The Chairman of the PPC hopes that all Nghe An overseas Vietnamese - experts, intellectuals, scientists, businessmen, investors, international students and workers, regardless of their circumstances, shall always uphold the Vietnamese spirit and Nghe An spirit to continue to contribute ideas and contribute to building and developing the homeland; strongly promote the role of a bridge to bring Nghe An goods and brands to the world; promote the cultural identity of Viet Nam and Nghe An province with the fine traditions of our people to international friends.

The Party Committee, Government, and People of the province always appreciate and deeply acknowledge the sincere feelings and valuable contributions of overseas Vietnamese community over the past years.

In the coming time, the province shall continue to focus on attracting and training high-quality human resources; mobilizing enterprises, experts, and scientists who are overseas Vietnamese to invest and contribute ideas to the province in various fields to meet the needs of the country and the trend of international integration; making efforts to further enhance the work of the overseas Vietnamese for a united, strong, and developing Nghe An  overseas Vietnamese commodities, working together to build and develop their homeland into a more prosperous and joyful nation.

At the meeting, representatives of the Nghe An overseas people associations/groups shared very openly and sincerely about their feelings regarding the changes in their homeland; the opinions  about the position and influence of Viet Nam and Ngha An province in the current international context. They also shared the achievements that have been made as well as the difficulties, obstacles, sentiments, and aspirations of our Nghe An overseas people associations/groups

With the spirit of "mutual affection", the overseas Vietnamese from Nghe An always wholeheartedly turn towards their homeland with many noble gestures. At the meeting: Mr. Dinh Ngoc - Chairman of the Nghe Tinh compatriot club in the Czech Republic, Mr. Le Huu Thuy - Chairman of the Nghe Tinh compatriot club in Hungary, and Mr. Hoang Huu Binh - Chairman of the Nghe Tinh compatriot club in Poland present a cash donation of 50 million VND to the children at SOS Children's Village Vinh.

In order to acknowledge the contributions and commend the achievements of overseas Vietnamese communities that have contributed to the socio-economic development of Nghe An province, and to timely encourage the overseas Vietnamese community to turn their hearts towards their roots and invest in building their homeland, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has decided to award certificates of merit to the overseas Vietnamese associations/groups.
