On the afternoon of March 22, Mr. Le Hong Vinh – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), had a meeting with the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, led by Mr. Sergey Ivanov - Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan. Also attending the meeting were leaders of relevant departments and agencies.

Overview of the meeting

Chairman of Nghe An PPC, Mr. Le Hong Vinh, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan to visit and work in Nghe An Province; and particularly, this is the occasion for Mr. Sergey Ivanov to return to Nghe An after 10 years since his first visit to the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh in 2014.

Information provided to the delegation regarding an overview and some outstanding results of the socio-economic situation in Nghe An province in 2024, particularly highlighting the tourism potential of the province, the Chairman of the PPC stated that Nghe An is a province located in the center of the North Central region of Viet Nam, with a long history and rich cultural traditions, proudly home to many historical sites and cultural heritage. Nghe An has a diverse natural terrain including mountains, forests, plains, seas and islands with many majestic natural landscapes, which are favorable conditions for tourism development. Notably, the primeval forest system in the western region of Nghe An, forming the largest World Biosphere Reserve in Southeast Asia, has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

The coastline of Nghe An is over 82 km long, flat, with fine white sand, a clean environment, suitable for the development of resort tourism, beach bathing, and health treatment, featuring many beautiful beaches such as Cua Lo, Bai Lu, Quynh Phuong, Quynh Lap, and Dien Thanh, etc.

Nghe An is also a land with a rich historical and cultural tradition, the homeland of many heroes and outstanding figures. Prominently, there is the Kim Lien historical site in Nam Dan, the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh, a world cultural celebrity.

One advantage in tourism is that Nghe An people are very friendly and hospitable.

With the potential advantages of tourism in Nghe An province, Chairman of the PPC Le Hong Vinh hoped that Mr. Sergey Ivanov, in his capacity as Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, will focus on promoting and introducing the image of the people, culture, and tourism products of Nghe An to the people and organizations of the Republic of Tatarstan in particular and the Russian Federation in general.

At the same time, it is essential to connect and call on the business community to pay attention to, survey, and invest in the tourism sector in Nghe An, as well as to research and develop a tourism program between the two parties in the near future. The Chairman of the PPC also believes that the Republic of Tatarstan has many investors and experienced travel agencies that will visit and sign agreements with travel agencies in Viet Nam, including Nghe An. Through cooperation in tourism development, it will be possible to connect and explore potential advantages, opening up avenues for economic and social collaboration. Nghe An has a large skilled labor force in the country, and the factories in the Republic of Tatarstan can consider relocating production line 2 to Nghe An. This is also a direction for the export of goods from the Republic of Tatarstan.

Nghe An province is committed to always accompanying and creating all favorable conditions for organizations and businesses to invest successfully, sustainably, and long-term in Nghe An.

Thank you for the warm and thoughtful reception from the leaders of Nghe An province. Mr. Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan, also introduced the potential advantages of tourism, as well as the socio-economic development of Tatarstan.

The Republic of Tatarstan has strengths in the fields of automation, mechanical engineering, information technology, oil and gas, agriculture, logistics, and warehousing. Tourism is also an important sector in the economic development of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2024, the Republic of Tatarstan attracted more than 4.4 million tourists, of which 85% were from Russia and 15% were international visitors. Currently, Tatarstan is focusing on investing in the construction of hotel and resort projects. In recent years, it has also organized conferences and forums on tourism, import, and export.

Expressing his impression of the tourism potential of Viet Nam in general and Nghe An in particular, especially its long coastline, Mr. Sergey Ivanov - Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan hopes to see collaborative projects for tourism development in Viet Nam. Currently, in Russia, Viet Nam is a popular travel destination for Russians, with hundreds of thousands of Russian tourists visiting Viet Nam each year. The Republic of Tatarstan also hopes to attract more Vietnamese tourists to Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan, especially since the flight from Kazan – the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan – to Moscow, Russia, takes just over an hour.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Andrey Kovtun - Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Viet Nam, Chief Representative of Novatek Group in Viet Nam hoped for specific cooperation between the Republic of Tatarstan and Nghe An. Mr. Andrey Kovtun said that the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation had just taken place. The year 2025 will also mark significant anniversaries for both Viet Nam and the Russian Federation. The former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Viet Nam stated that he always cherishes the valuable sentiments that the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam have for the people and country of Russia.

Nghe An Province and the Republic of Tatarstan both have significant potential for tourism development in particular and socio-economic development in general. In the near future, Vinh Airport will be renovated and upgraded, which will create favorable conditions to open up opportunities for Russian tourists to visit Nghe An. This will, in turn, foster relationships in production, business, and other investment projects, contributing to the strengthening of relations between Nghe An Province and the Russian Federation in general, and between Nghe An Province and the Republic of Tatarstan in particular.
