Representatives of Nghe An province leaders work with European Chamber of Commerce EuroCham

On the morning of November 29, within the framework of the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) worked with the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Vietnam.

Attending the event were leaders of departments and branches: Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism, Industrial park infrastructure enterprises in the area: WHA, VSIP, Hoang Thinh Dat. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the EuroCham side are Chamber Chairman Alain Cany, CEO Delphine Rousselet and EuroCham Executive Board Members.

The delegation of Nghe An province works with the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Vietnam

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bui Dinh Long highly appreciated EuroCham's initiative to organize the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2022. In the sustainable development strategy, Nghe An province always aims for a green economy, including attracting green and environmentally friendly investment projects.

Currently, Nghe An has 113 FDI projects from 14 countries/territories, with a total registered investment capital of more than 2,535 billion USD. European investors have advantages in technology, actively contributing to technology transfer, creating a number of new industries, occupations and new products with high technology content, creating many new jobs, however, in Nghe An, there are only 2 projects of EU investors with a total investment of more than 17 million USD.

Nghe An province wished to increase investment attraction from the EU, asking EuroCham to support in introducing European investors to research and explore investment cooperation opportunities in the locality.

Eurocham Chairman Alain Cany was pleased to welcome the delegation of Nghe An province to attend the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition GEFE 2022 and work with EuroCham. The EU market is a potential market with high quality but fastidious requirements, Nghe An province needs to prepare carefully if it wants to penetrate this market. Agriculture, tourism and electronics are the areas where Nghe An province has strengths and the EU has demand.

Mr. Alain Cany suggested that Nghe An province pay attention to the development of transport infrastructure, energy infrastructure, quality training of human resources, etc. The EU is expected to organize a leaders’ delegation of the Board of Directors and enterprises to work and survey investment in Nghe An province in March or April 2023.

Speaking at the meeting, Acting Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Nhu Hieu said: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs always supports and accompanies localities in implementing foreign economic activities, including Nghe An province. Nghe An is a potential market for EU investors looking for cooperation opportunities. Comrade Nguyen Nhu Hieu suggested that each side appoint a contact point to connect and exchange information and make written proposals. The Department of Foreign Affairs is committed to supporting EuroCham and Nghe An province in implementing cooperation activities.
