On the afternoon of June 02, the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) had a meeting with Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company led by Mr. Dinh Cao Khue - Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) on investment promotion of a fruit processing factory in Nghe An.

Working with the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Van De - Provincial Member, Vice Chairman of the PPC; leaders of the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, the Provincial Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism.

Overview of the meeting

Nghe An is a province with natural conditions of land and climate suitable for the growth and development of many crops and livestock, especially for cultivation, Nghe An province's strength is confirmed through the development of vegetables and fruit trees. In 2022, the total area of annual crops in the province is estimated at 349,726 ha.

Currently, in the whole province, the total area of perennial fruit trees is estimated at nearly 25,000 hectares. In which, the area of citrus trees reached 9,912 hectares, the output reached 128,664 tons; the area of tropical and subtropical fruit trees is estimated at 10,928.01 ha, etc.

In order to sustainably develop fruit trees along the value chain to improve production efficiency, Nghe An has been building, adjusting, perfecting and orienting production to form specialized farming areas; to step up the application of scientific research results and the application of new technical advances to production. Strengthening linkages between production and processing, etc. In addition, the province also focuses on promoting trade promotion activities, advertising, introducing products, building trademarks, brands, geographical indications, etc. to expand the domestic market and promote the export of fruit tree products.

In the past time, Nghe An PPC has approved and issued many projects, programs and plans; including the project on developing and expanding the area of fruit trees associated with the processing industry and product consumption of Nghe An province in the 2021-2030 period and the project of developing key agricultural products of Nghe An province in the 2021 – 2025 period, with a vision to 2030. In which, Nghe An province has built 7 main product groups of the province with fruit trees; oriented to 2030 to reach 50,000 hectares, the output will reach about 789,160 tons.

Orientation of the province is to attract investment in 03 processing facilities with a capacity of 200,000 - 250,000 tons/year. Total capacity by 2030 will reach 300,000 - 350,000 tons/year (accounting for 40-45% of fruit output). In which, there is an orientation to attract investment in building a fruit processing factory invested by Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (Ninh Binh) (expected in Tan Ky, Quynh Luu or Yen Thanh).

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: In 2020, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development signed a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company with the aim of establishing, maintaining and developing the relationship between the two sides for cooperation, submitted to the competent authorities the policy of investing in a modern technology fruit processing plant in Nghe An province in association with the development of raw material areas, purchasing and processing of fruits. Thereby, improving added value and efficiency of agricultural production in general and fruit in particular of Nghe An province; supporting investors in the process of investing and doing business in the province.

In the past period, the two sides had exchanges and carried out certain activities. The director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development hoped that in the near future, the cooperation process with Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company will be accelerated. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will accompany the company; at the same time, actively advise and propose to the PPC the most favorable conditions for production investment activities of Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company in Nghe An province.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dinh Cao Khue – the BOD Chairman of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company said: The company wishes to carry out the investment in a processing factory and associate product consumption in Nghe An province. Through surveys in the localities of the province, it can be seen that the raw material area is very abundant and has potential. The BOD Chairman of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company wished to receive the attention of the province so that the company can ensure the conditions for the construction and operation of the factory.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the PPC said that in order to succeed in the orientation of agricultural development in general and to develop and expand the area of vegetables and fruit trees in particular, the first is the output and participation of the enterprise. Therefore, the province wants to attract investors and enterprises with enough scope to build processing factories, associate production with products for farmers.

Through the meeting, with the proposal of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company, the PPC committed to creating maximum conditions for the Company in investment activities; at the same time, directed the relevant Departments, committees and branches to create the most favorable conditions and guide Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company to carry out investment procedures according to regulations.
