Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy works with the German Asia-Pacific Business Association

On the afternoon of June 14 (local time), in Hamburg, Germany, a delegation from Nghe An province worked with the German Asia-Pacific Business Association. The delegation was led by comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.

Overview of the meeting

Welcoming and working with the delegation included Ms. Almut Rosne - member of the Board of Directors and associates of the German Asia-Pacific Business Association.

The German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV) was founded in 1900, and is currently the largest foreign trade association with more than 450 members from all sectors across the whole of Germany such as representatives of the large industrial concerns, medium-sized manufacturing firms, trade companies, banks, insurance companies and service providers

OAV aims to promote the development of economic relations with the rapidly rising Asia-Pacific region through professional support for German companies in business activities in Asia; provide independent information and assessments on trends and potential to members; provide knowledge about industrialized countries, developing and emerging countries and less developed markets in the region.

As a strong business network with good institutional links, OAV cooperates closely with ministries, agencies and embassies in Germany and other Asia-Pacific countries, as well as German foreign trade promotion partner organizations.

To start the meeting, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy thanked Ms. Almut Rosne and OAV members for their enthusiastic welcome and time to work with the delegation.

Appreciating the role of the Association in connecting and advising members to learn and invest in the Asia-Pacific region in general and Viet Nam in particular, the head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee exchange, through this working season, the province has the opportunity to introduce and provide complete and detailed information about Nghe An, from which the province hope that OAV shall support German enterprises to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in Nghe An.

Sharing beautiful feelings and memories when coming to Nghe An many times while working at the European Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (Eurocham), Ms. Almut Rosne highly appreciated the potential for cooperation with the province and expressed ready to support and connect to promote the mutual cooperation process.

In particular, in Viet Nam being in the Asia-Pacific region, which accounts for more than 60% of the world's population and has a very dynamically developing economy, Ms. Almut Rosne said that in 2023, during the surveying with OAV member enterprises, the results show that Viet Nam is the second country in the region in terms of interest from German enterprises.

Discussing at the working season, the Secretary Thai Thanh Quy proposed that OAV creates conditions for Nghe An to participate in introducing potentials, advantages, investment attraction policies and answering questions with members of the Association and supports the connection with the German Industry and Commerce in Viet Nam for Nghe An to work specifically to prepare for the above activity.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy wished that if the Association organizes a delegation for member enterprises to survey the investment and business environment in Viet Nam, please arrange time to come work, explore the potential, Investment advantages in Nghe An, which has made a lot of progress.

Ms. Almut Rosne highly appreciated Nghe An's advantages in providing attractive tax incentive policies in industrial zones. The province has also advantages in human resources and a favorable geographical location for seaport and logistics development, connecting the East - West Economic Corridor.

Vinh city is identified as an urban area of special importance in the development of Viet Nam, and has a close and traditional relationship with Germany since the time of the German Democratic Republic.

On that basis, she said that it is expected that in 2025, the Association shall organize a survey delegation in Viet Nam in the field of electronics industry and digital transformation to look for investment opportunities in electronic component production.

At the same time, the Association would like to connect with Nghe An to train skilled workers to work in Germany and discuss cooperation in the sector of agriculture and minerals.

Therefore, Ms. Almut Rosne hoped that through the Association's survey delegation, members shall learn about the actual situation and discuss and exchange specific cooperation.

Sincerely thanking OAV's comments and goodwill to cooperate, Secretary Thai Thanh Quy acknowledged that the survey shall be an opportunity for Nghe An and the Association to enhance cooperation.

After the business trip in Germany, Nghe An shall connect with the Association's electronics partners who are investing in Nghe An. Nghe An shall also provide a document to the Association with specific information about the potential and investment attraction policies, cooperate on vocational training and agriculture; transportation infrastructure, seaports, marine economic development and officially propose the delegation to survey, research and cooperate.

"We hope that starting from this working visit, the relationship between Nghe An and the Association shall be even deeper," the Provincial Party Secretary said and expressed hope that in the near future there will be OAV members invest in Nghe An.

On this occasion, he respectfully invited Ms. Almut Rosne and her colleagues to return to visit Nghe An province.
