Also in attendance were the Vice Chairmen of the PPC, members of the PPC, and leaders of relevant departments, sectors, and units.

In May 2026, the socio-economic situation across the province generally continued to maintain its growth momentum, achieving many positive results across various sectors and fields.

Agricultural, forestry, and fishery production maintained stable growth. As of May 20, 2026, the total planted area of annual crops was estimated at 160,000 hectares, reaching 97.16% compared to the same period last year, of which the Spring crop accounted for approximately 130,000 hectares. Timber production and total fishery output both recorded a considerable increase compared to the same period last year.

Industrial production continued its strong growth momentum, with the Industrial Production Index (IIP) in May estimated to have increased by 18.13%. Cumulatively for the first five months of the year, the IIP rose by 18.07%. Some products recorded outstanding growth, including electronic components (tripling compared to the same period), construction stone extraction (up 36.33%), NPK fertilizer (up 22.49%), canned beer (up 20.37%), and electricity output (up 12.15%).

The total retail sales of goods and revenue from consumer services for the first five months are estimated at nearly 79 trillion VND, up 13.62% compared to the same period last year. Goods export turnover reached over 2.5 billion USD, an increase of 58.3%, with electronic equipment and components recording a remarkable growth of more than 173.4%, accounting for 53.4% of total export turnover. The tourism sector was vibrant, marked by major events such as the Lang Sen Festival, the announcement of Kim Lien National Tourist Area, and the opening of the Cua Lo Sea Tourism Festival, attracting approximately 5.23 million visitors in the first five months, an increase of 9%.

State budget revenue for the first five months is estimated at 14,986 billion VND, reaching 64.2% of the target assigned by the Provincial People’s Council and increasing by 31% compared to the same period last year (equivalent to 97.04% of the six-month target and 46.83% of the annual target). Domestic revenue is estimated at 13,737 billion VND, up 29.1% (excluding land use fees and lottery revenue, it increased by 28.1%). Several revenue sources recorded strong growth, including foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises, up 79.7%; the non-state sector, up 43.6%; and registration fees, up 57.7%. Revenue from import and export activities reached 1,150 billion VND, up 58.7% compared to the same period last year.

As of May 21, 2026, the total disbursement of public investment capital in the province reached 3,042.373 billion VND, equivalent to a disbursement rate of 18.3%, higher than the national average of 18%. Of this, the 2026 annual plan capital achieved 15.56% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister (16.02% of the plan after savings), while ongoing project capital reached a disbursement rate of 29.44%. Regarding investment attraction, the province granted licenses for 21 new projects and adjusted 72 projects, with a total newly registered and increased capital of 67.7 trillion VND, 8.36 times higher than the same period last year. Additionally, 2,309 new enterprises were established (up 46.88%) with registered capital of 9,534 billion VND, and 649 enterprises resumed operations (up 36.05%).

Social welfare was ensured. The Department of Education and Training completed the 2025-2026 academic year and successfully organized the entrance examination for grade 10. The province launched the 2026 Health Campaign, providing medical check-ups and screening for residents in accordance with Prime Minister’s Directive No. 17/CT-TTg. Administrative reform efforts were strengthened: the province conducted a one-year review of the two-tier local government system, finalized the administrative unit classification proposal for submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and issued classification decisions for 130 communes and wards. National defense, security, and social order continued to be maintained.
