On the afternoon of July 14, in Hanoi, a delegation from Nghe An Province led by Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Head of the Steering Committee for Medicinal Material Development of Nghe An Province, had a working session with Viet Nam Ginseng Medicine Pharmacy Group to discuss the orientation for cooperation in developing the medicinal material industry for the 2026-2030 period.

Attending the working session were representatives from the Office of the Provincial Party Committee, the Office of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Departments of: Agriculture and Rural Development, Science and Technology, Finance; the Forest Protection Department, the Management Board of Ky Son Protection Forest, and the People's Committee of Na Ngoi Commune.

On the business side, there was Mr. Vo Kim Cu - Chairman of Viet Nam Ginseng Medicine Pharmacy Group, along with the Group's Leadership Board.

Overview of the working session

At the meeting, leaders of Viet Nam Ginseng Medicine Pharmacy Group reported on the implementation results of the cooperation model for under-canopy medicinal material cultivation in Na Ngoi Commune (formerly Ky Son District). The project has been deployed since 2023 across nearly 20 hectares of protection forest with key medicinal species such as Ngoc Linh ginseng, Puxailaileng ginseng, Anoectochilus formosanus, and pseudoginseng...

According to the business, up to now, the cultivation areas are growing and developing well; many Ngoc Linh ginseng plants have flowered and borne fruit, initially confirming that the climate and soil conditions of the Puxailaileng peak area are suitable for developing precious medicinal materials.

Based on the achieved results, the Group proposed that Nghe An Province consider creating favorable conditions to expand an additional 150 hectares for under-canopy medicinal material cultivation in adjacent areas to the deployed site, aiming to form a concentrated raw material zone for research, production, and processing.

Speaking at the working session, Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh highly appreciated the pioneering spirit, strategic vision, and long-term investment determination of Viet Nam Ginseng Medicine Pharmacy Group towards Nghe An. The comrade emphasized that Nghe An has a forest and forestry land area of over 1.16 million hectares, ranking second in the country; the western region has a highly abundant medicinal resource with more than 1,500 species of medicinal plants. Particularly, the Puxailaileng area in Na Ngoi Commune possesses exceptionally favorable natural conditions for developing many precious medicinal species such as Puxailaileng ginseng, Ngoc Linh ginseng, Anoectochilus formosanus, Paris polyphylla, Fallopia multiflora, Codonopsis pilosula...

Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh stressed: Medicinal material development is one of the province's major orientations aimed at effectively exploiting forest potential, creating sustainable livelihoods for mountainous ethnic minorities, and linking economic development with forest protection and enrichment. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee established the Provincial Steering Committee for Medicinal Material Development for the 2026-2030 period, with an orientation to 2045, defining the transformation of medicinal materials into a high-value-added green economic sector.

Regarding the Group's proposal to expand the medicinal material cultivation area, Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh affirmed that the province supports the policy, as practice from the deployed model in Na Ngoi Commune shows that Ngoc Linh ginseng adapts well to the local ecological conditions. This serves as an important basis to continue expanding the scale of raw material zone development, in alignment with the Government's Viet Nam Ginseng Development Program. The comrade also noted that under-canopy medicinal material development currently enjoys a favorable legal corridor under the Government's Decree No. 183/2025/ND-CP.

The province requested the Group to coordinate closely with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Management Board of Ky Son Protection Forest to urgently complete dossiers and plans for cultivation and development of medicinal materials in forests in strict accordance with the law to soon deploy the project. Concurrently, Nghe An Province committed to accompanying the business during the project survey, investment, and implementation processes; directing relevant departments and sectors to guide and promptly resolve procedures, creating the most favorable conditions for the business to develop raw material zones, invest in deep processing, transfer technology, and build a sustainable medicinal material value chain.

The two sides also agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in researching and conserving precious medicinal genetic resources; developing concentrated raw material zones; applying science and technology; providing technical training for local people; building brands and expanding the product consumption market.

The working session is a concrete step in Nghe An Province's policy to attract capable investors into the medicinal material sector, effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the western region of Nghe An; gradually forming a modern and sustainable medicinal material economic sector, contributing to improving people's income, protecting forest resources, and achieving the province's green economic development goals in the new period./.
