On the afternoon of May 18, 2026, the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) and T&T Group jointly organized the inauguration of the nine-tiered waterfall at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, the mother of President Ho Chi Minh.

The nine-tiered waterfall in the area of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan’s tomb is one of the components under the planning for the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of the Special National Monument – the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Kim Lien, which was approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 1943/QD-TTg dated November 27, 2020.

The Nine-tier waterfall project in the area of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan’s tomb, located within the Special National Relic Site - the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site (Kim Lien Commune), has a total investment of over 34 billion VND and is funded by T&T Group.

With sponsorship from T&T Group, the project officially commenced in November 2023 to honor the contributions of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, the mother of President Ho Chi Minh, and to gradually complete the overall landscape, enhancing the appeal for visitors to the tomb site. The project also contributes to promoting patriotism and national pride, especially among the younger generation. The project was completed in time for the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026).

Inspired by the familiar Vietnamese folk verse, “A father’s labor is as big as the Thai Son mountain / A mother’s love is as abundant as the water flowing from the source”, the Nine-tier waterfall was constructed based on the restoration, landscaping, and rehabilitation of the existing natural stream at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan. The project features nine consecutive tiers of water. The central reflective pool is positioned at the confluence of two small streams flowing from the main tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan and the tomb of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Xin (the youngest brother of President Ho Chi Minh), before merging into a gentle flow through eight tiers of waterfalls down to Uyen Lake amidst the forested landscape of Dong Tranh. Each tier is adorned with a different carved flower, contributing to a symbolic and meaningful landscape space.

Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that, as the responsible managing investor, the Department will carry out effective management and protection, gradually completing the overall landscape so that the site truly serves as a worthy memorial honoring the contributions of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan. In doing so, it will meet the needs of the public and visitors, while also promoting and enhancing the value of the Special National Monument – the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.

Throughout the implementation of the project, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, T&T Group, and relevant units devoted considerable effort and time to research and consult with professional agencies as well as leading domestic and international experts in culture, history, architecture, and planning, in order to ensure that the Nine-tier waterfall project is both symbolic, culturally profound, and sustainably valuable, while also harmonizing with the natural landscape and the overall cultural and historical space of the relic site.
