Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung and Mr. Wojciech Gerwel – the Ambassador of Poland exchange information

This is the first visit of Mr. Wojciech Gerwel to Nghe An province as Ambassador, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung provided some more information about Nghe An province for the Ambassador as well as members of the Delegation to understand more about President Ho Chi Minh's hometown. Nghe An is likened to a miniature Vietnam when there are forests, mountains, plains, and sea. Over the years, the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An province have made great efforts, always striving to realize the goal of socio-economic development. In the last 2 years, like many provinces and cities in the country and countries around the world, Nghe An has faced the COVID-19 pandemic.

The province has closely followed the direction of the Central Government and implemented proactively and flexibly measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, so the pandemic situation in Nghe An is basically under control. Up to now, the vaccination rate has been accelerated (the coverage rate of COVID-19 vaccine for people over 18 years old is 98% for 1st dose and 72% for 2nd dose), and the death rate of patients is among the lowest in the country with about 0.57%.

In terms of economy, the province has also achieved very positive results. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: The Provincial People's Council has just held a meeting to evaluate the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2021 and agree on the goals and tasks of socio-economic development in 2022. Despite facing many difficulties, the growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the province in 2021 reached about 6.2%, ranking 22nd out of 63 provinces and cities in the country. The results in terms of budget revenue, export to attract investment, the number of newly established enterprises, etc. all grew more than in 2020. In the coming time, Nghe An will focus on solutions for economic recovery and development, setting higher goals than the previous year to strive for implementation. To achieve the set goals, Nghe An has identified a number of breakthrough stages, such as: Administrative reform, improving business investment environment, investing in infrastructure construction; improving the quality of human resource training, etc.

Regarding cooperation with Poland, historically the two sides have had friendly cooperation. The Vietnam - Poland Friendship Hospital is one of the symbols of the good friendship between Poland and Vietnam.

In recent years, the Polish Government through organizations has sponsored medical equipment for the Vietnamese health branch. Tomorrow, the delegation of the Embassy of Poland will donate 2 ventilators to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Provincial Friendship Hospital. This is a very meaningful gift for the Hospital in particular and Nghe An in general, which will contribute to the Nghe An Health branch to perform well in health care for people in the area and in the region, especially is in the context of a very complicated pandemic.

Over the years, the help and support of the Embassy of Poland to Nghe An province has made practical contributions to the province's socio-economic development. Therefore, Nghe An province wishes to continue to receive the help and support of the Embassy of Poland in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked the Ambassador to support and introduce Polish universities, medical and pharmaceutical research institutes to Vinh University of Medicine for cooperation and exchange of medical training through activities such as granting scholarships, organizing specialized training or seminars, sharing experiences; appointing experts to directly train students and staff of Vinh Medical University.
